Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is one of the most effective ways to support the health and well-being of both infants and mothers in Kansas. Breastfeeding provides essential nutrients that support infant development, strengthens the immune system, and reduces the risk of chronic conditions such as asthma, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. For mothers, breastfeeding lowers the risk of breast and ovarian cancer, heart disease, and postpartum depression.

In Kansas, however, not all families have equal access to the resources and support needed to successfully breastfeed. By fostering a culture that supports breastfeeding, Kansas can improve infant and maternal health outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, and build healthier communities for generations to come.
