Local & State-Level Advocacy

Local and state-level advocacy is a powerful way for community health coalitions to create lasting, system-wide change that improves health, safety, and quality of life.

By engaging with city councils, county commissions, school boards, and state legislators, coalitions can influence policies that shape the environments where people live, work, and gather. This might include championing ordinances that protect public health, advocating for state funding to support community programs, or testifying on bills that impact access to housing, transportation, or public safety resources.

Coalitions bring credibility to these efforts by representing diverse voices, sharing local data, and telling the real-life stories of community members. When organized and persistent, coalition advocacy can help secure laws and budgets that align with community priorities.
